beverages was the main contributor to the decline, bringing the index down by 0.32pp, though there were also price declines in a variety of other categories including clothing and footwear, recreation and culture, and health, among others.
The main positive contribution again came from the transport sector (up 1.2%, contributing 0.15pp), while the only other sector to see a price increase was hotels and restaurants (0.2%; 0.01pp).
4.2.2  PPI dynamic
Georgia’s PPI for industrial products up 5.7% y/y in July
Georgia’s Producer Price Index (PPI) for industrial products increased by 5.7% y/y in July, while falling by 0.8% m/m, statistics office Geostat   said .
Manufactured products were the main contributor to the annual rise in the PPI, growing by 4.2% and contributing 3.48pp to the overall price index.
This included a 3.2% increase in prices for the key group of food products, beverages and tobacco, as well as a 7.2% rise in prices of basic metals and fabricated metal products.
Electrical energy, gas, steam and hot water prices saw a 14.8% hike compared to July 2017, contributing 2.01pp to the overall PPI increase.
In monthly terms, prices for manufactured products dropped by 0.9%, dragging the overall index down by 0.71pp.
This included a fall in prices for food products, beverages and tobacco (down 1.1%), basic metals and fabricated metal products (down 2.6%), and chemicals, chemical products and man-made fibres (down 1.2%).
There was a sharper 4.5% fall in prices for mining and quarrying products, which contributed -0.29pp to the overall decline in the index.
