On April 3, 2020, PrivatBank filed a new lawsuit in Cypriot courts, in the Limassol District Court, seeking damages of $5.5 bln for fraudulent schemes including money laundering. The bank claims were committed by its former shareholders: Kolomoisky Bogolyubov, former first deputy chairman Timur Novikov and two Cypriot companies: PrimeCap (Cyprus) Limited and Duxton Holdings Limited. As reported by Interfax, the total amount of claims filed by PrivatBank against Kolomoisky and Bogolyubov in England, Cyprus, the United States, and Israel exceeded $10bn
Navies of Ukraine, the USA, Turkey, Romania conduct PASSEX-type exercises in the Black Sea. The announcement was made by the public relations service of the command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. A total of seven ships took part in the exercise, two of which were from the Ukrainian Navy. The purpose of the practices was to work out interaction as part of a multinational tactical group following NATO standards and increase the level of compatibility with the fleets of the Alliance.
Ex-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov announced on Nov. 16 that he would create a political party based on his “Smart People” interparty faction in the parliament. He told reporters on Nov. 16 that there are enough political projects in Ukraine, but too few actual parties. The move comes as the Rating sociological polling company released its latest findings. Of those polled over Nov. 10-13, 7.9% of those who already know for whom they would vote supported what was at the time Razumkov’s inter-party group. Furthermore, 8.3% would vote for Razumkov himself for president.
British PM Boris Johnson told diplomats and journalists on November 15 that, “We hope that our friends may recognize that a choice is shortly coming -- between mainlining ever more Russian hydrocarbons in giant new pipelines, and sticking up for Ukraine and championing the cause of peace and stability.” Johnson did not mention Nord Stream II directly in his speech, Bloomberg reported on November 15. The statement comes as the EU begins deliberations on the certification of the Nord Stream II pipeline. The build-up of the Russian military in the south-west of Ukraine, currently estimated at 90,000 troops, prompted France to issue a warning to Russia on November 12 regarding the consequences of any “further damage to the territorial integrity of Ukraine.”
Ukrainian President Zelensky has signed the law on bringing NABU status in line with the Constitution, reported Interfax. Zelensky signed the law on amendments to specific laws of Ukraine on bringing the status of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine in line with the requirements of the Constitution of Ukraine. "The document removes the contradictions between the Constitution and the law on the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, defining that the NABU is the central executive agency with a special status that guarantees the independence of its work”, said the President's Office.
