What is green?
The share of wind and solar in Turkey’s electricity generation in H1 rose to 12.9%, ranking Turkey 17th among European countries.
The share of hydropower, which constitutes the major provider of the country’s electricity, saw its lowest level in seven years, at just 21%, as droughts hit the country.
Wind and solar in total Turkish electricity generation in 2020 was 12.2%, while hydropower accounted for 33.6%.
The average share of hydropower in Turkey’s electricity generation during the first halves of the last 10 years was 27.2%, according to the report.
