Makedonski Telekom prepares for commercial launch of 5G technology
Macedonia’s biggest telecommunication company Makedonski Telekom, part of Deutsche Telekom, is preparing for the commercial launch of 5G tech- nology at the beginning of 2020, the company said on September 17.
5G mobile network speed is over four times higher than the data transfer speed of 4G.
Makedonski Telekom conducted its first 5G demo in the country on September 17, as another step towards the introduction of the technology, which will enable technological progress and many new functionalities for customers, it said in the statement.
world with 20.6bn visits to pirate sites in 2017.
However, Yandex now reportedly argues that it is technically impossible to comply with Gazprom Media demands, as it cannot control or check the ownership of rights for content on websites that appear on the search engine.
The search engine is not placing the content online, and thus cannot be made liable for breach of ownership rights, and argues that the demands imposed by Gazprom Media through court are impossible to comply with.
At the same time representatives of the company told Vedomosti that an alternative solution to curb pirated content in Runet is being developed by Yandex, to be presented soon.
“Today we measured the highest speed so far, even though the speed is not the main benefit of the
5G technology. This new technology standard will change not only our way of communication, but also our way of life,” Makedonski Telekom's CEO Nikola Ljusev said in the statement.
Ljusev underlined that the company will continue to invest and upgrade the network in the next two years to prepare for the commercial launch.
The implementation of 5G technology will start in Europe as of 2020 while the complete implementa- tion with all advanced functionalities is expected after 2025.
