9.1.8 Telecoms sector news
Event: The Russian State Commission for Radio Frequencies plans to extend the permit for Russian telecoms to use LTE frequencies for another ten years, Vedomosti reported. To obtain the extension, the operators will have to meet a number of conditions:
Operators would have to roll out the LTE network on local equipment only starting from 2023.
By 2028, operators will have to cover 99% of small towns and villages with a population of 500-999 with LTE.
By 2030, 99% of federal highways should be covered with LTE. According to Vedomosti, the coverage level on federal highways is not even 70% at the moment.
9.1.9 Tourism sector news
Three quarters of Russians will holiday this year inside the country and forego a foreign trip due to the problems created by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion found in a survey.
