CABGOC extends Block 0 concession
ANGOLA CABINDA Gulf Oil Co. (CABGOC), an affil-
iate of the US major Chevron, announced on
December 6 the successful extension of the
Block 0 concession, off the coast of Angola’s
Cabinda province.
The agreement extends the concession for 20
years, up until 2050. Under the renewed agree-
ment, CABGOC will remain the operator with
a 39.2% interest on behalf of its partners, Sonan-
gol EP, with a 41% interest, TotalEnergies EP
Petroleum Angola (France) with a 10% interest,
and Eni Angola Production (Italy) with a 9.8%
interest.
“We are pleased with the opportunity to con-
tinue to partner with the government of Angola
and our Block 0 associates to apply our indus-
try-leading exploration and production capa-
bilities in Angola, where we have had a presence
for more than 60 years,” Billy Lacobie, managing
director of Chevron’s Southern Africa Strategic
Business Unit, said in a statement.

NAMIBIA TOTALENERGIES (France) has spudded the
Venus-1X offshore exploration well off of the
Namibian coast. The well is seen as potentially
transformative for the domestic oil industry.
Impact Oil and Gas, a privately owned explo-
ration company with interests in Africa, made
the announcement on Wednesday, 1 November.
The well is situated in Petroleum Exploration
Licence 56, Block 2913B, and is located offshore
southern Namibia. The block covers approxi-
mately 8,215 square km in water depths up to
3,000 metres. Impact owns a 20% equity stake
