Russian tanker carrying US LNG cargo heads to Spain
A Russian tanker that was loaded with LNG at Cheniere Energy’s Sabine Pass terminal on the US Gulf Coast is heading to the Huelva terminal in Spain, Reuters reported on November 28 citing Re nitiv Eikon data.
According to the data, showed that a oating storage and regasi cation unit (FSRU), the Marshal Vasilevskiy, which can also act as an LNG vessel, is due to arrive at Huelva on December 9.
Reuters cited industry sources as saying that commodity trader Gunvor had leased the Marshal Vasilevskiy from Russia’s Gazprom.
e Russian company accounts for around a third of supply to the European gas market, but does not ship natural gas to Spain via pipeline, though it has previously shipped LNG to the country. Gazprom has said that LNG supplies from the US to Europe do
not rival its own deliveries as they are more competitively priced.
Belorusneft wins another
contract to service Yamal
LNG’s Arctic gas wells
A Belorusne subsidiary, Belorusne -Siberia, has won another contract for repair work at the Yuzhno-Tambeiskoye gas and condensate eld, which is operated by Yamal LNG.
e company previously provided similar
services for Yamal LNG from 2015 until September 2019.
e Yamal LNG project consists of three LNG trains with capacities of 5.5mn tpy and one with a capacity of 900,000 tpy, or 17.4mn tpy in total. e company uses gas from the Yuzhno-Tambeiskoye project as feedstock for the LNG terminal. e project entered service in 2017.
“Services for Yamal LNG include ongoing and capital repairs and well completion, mothballing, demothballing, and liquidation. Belarus has ‘dug in’ in the Arctic for the next three years,” Belorusne said in a statement.
“Gomel’s Seismotekhnika manufactured an AP80 hoisting unit especially for this project in 2019. It was delivered by sea to the Port of Sabetta and sent on from there to the Yuzhno- Tambeiskoye eld,” the company added.
Novatek operates Yamal LNG with a 50.1% stake. France’s Total and China’s CNPC each hold 20% in the project, while the Silk Road Fund owns a 9.9% interest.
