2.11 ​Russian business and consumer confidence
There was no update to the Rosstat consumer confidence number, ​which was deeply in the hole in the third quarter at -22; one of its lowest levels since the 2014 crisis.
Business confidence fell to -7.3 in December​, down from 5 in October, but in line with the seasonal decline in business confidence that comes every winter. The level of confidence in December was also better than the 9 the Rosstat survey posted in May in the bowl of the crisis.
This result was backed up by the IHS Markit PMI survey that also found business owners remain reasonably optimistic that 2021 will be better than 2020 thanks to the roll out of a mass vaccination programme.
