According to the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, the number of Ukrainians who are permanently employed abroad is 3.2mn. This is 18% of the total economically active population of the country.
Also, as noted in the Ministry of Finance, high rates of labor migration have led to an increase in wages in Ukraine. Thus, in May 2019, the wage growth rate increased to 7% (compared to May the previous year) due to the fact that Ukrainian employers are forced to compete with the European labor force.
4.4.2 Nominal wages dynamics
Real wages in Ukraine grew 9.8% y/y in September, accelerating from 7.7% y/y growth in August, the State Statistics Service reported on October 28. The average monthly nominal wage amounted to UAH10,687 a month ($431), increasing from UAH10,527 in August, or 0.7% m/m in real terms.
The leading regions for average monthly wages were the city of Kyiv (UAH15,626), the Ukrainian-controlled Donetsk region (UAH11,907), and the Kyiv region (UAH11,166).
The largest nominal average wage growth was in industry (23.3% y/y), health care and social assistance (20.7% y/y), and professional, information and telecommunication services (19.3% y/y). Within the industrial sector, the highest nominal wages were in pharmaceuticals (UAH19,166), mining (UAH16,643), and coke and oil production (UAH15,394).
Real salaries will grow by 10% next year, predicts the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade, and Agriculture. Exports of goods and services will climb by 7-8% next year. The central bank has raised its GDP growth forecasts to
