Ukrainian producers in 2018 boosted exports of eggs in shell by 21.3%, to almost 107,500 tonnes , while shell egg exports in monetary terms increased by 37.1%, to $94.1mn, reports UNIAN. Imports of eggs in shell in 2018 decreased by 40% in physical terms and by 32% in monetary terms, to 3,400 tonnes and $13.1mn, respectively, according to customs statistics, published by Ukraine's State Fiscal Service (SFS). Exports of eggs not in shell in 2018 increased 2.2 times as compared with 2017, to 7,800 tonnes and in monetary terms grew by 2.5 times, to $25.3mn. Imports of eggs not in shell in 2018 decreased to 31 tonnes worth $163,000, against 99 tonnes worth $551,000 in 2017. Ukraine exported 88,580 tonnes of eggs in 2017.
Trade between Ukraine and the European Union has grown by 40% in the three years  since the two entities have been part of a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area. “The EU’s share of Ukrainian exports has reached a historic maximum of 42.5%,” said Mr Poroshenko. “The structure of Ukrainian exports has shifted significantly towards value added products, which now account for 43% of exports to the EU.” “Our next priorities in the development of trade with the EU are strengthened customs cooperation, the conclusion of an agreement on conformity assessment and acceptance of industrial products, as well the adaptation of legislation in the field of sanitary and biosecurity measures,” the president added. Ukraine’s primary exports to the EU are iron and steel, as well as grain, unprocessed tobacco, seeds and animal feed. The EU-Ukrainian Association Agreement, which created a free trade zone between Kyiv and Brussels, was signed in 2014 and entered into force in 2016.
Trade turnover between Ukraine and India in January-October 2018 amounted to $2.3bn , of, which $1.5bn was the cost of sunflower oil, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv has said. “India ranks first in terms of exports of Ukrainian goods to the countries of the Asia-Pacific region and is the fifth largest buyer of Ukrainian products among countries in the world,” he wrote on Facebook.
Ukraine’s exports to Canada were up 48.5% y/y through September,
Andriy Shevchenko, Ukraine’s ambassador to Canada, tells Ukrinform. Canada lifted 98% of customs duties on Ukrainian goods on Aug. 1, 2017, the start of the Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement. One surprising growth export was apple juice. The ambassador said: “I deliberately cite this example to encourage Ukrainian look for new areas of growth.” Although the two populations are roughly the same – about 37mn – Canada’s economy is five times larger, when measured in purchasing parity terms.
Ukraine may lose up to 25% of trade turnover with Russia in 2019
because of Moscow's new sanctions imposed on Kyiv, director of energy programs at the Center of World Economy and International Relations at Ukraine's National Academy of Sciences Valentin Zemlyansky told 112 Ukraina TV channel on Sunday. Zemlyansky estimated that Ukraine will lose up to $1bn next year because of new restrictive measures. "Estimates vary from $500mn to $1bn. Taking into account that trade turnover will stand at around $4bn in 2018, it will be significant for Ukraine's economy if we lose 25% next year," the expert noted.
Russia expanded its ban on imports from Ukraine on January 2,  saying it would halt $510mn worth of annual imports of food, raw materials and industrial and farm products. The wide ranging list includes wines, candy tractors, transformers, gas turbine, paper, wallpaper, gravel, crushed stone, and sunflower oil.
