A mini-trade war between Ukraine and Uzbekistan is over.  Uzbekistan, the largest importer of Ukrainian sugar, has resumed imports of sugar and drugs from Ukraine, reports Ruslana Butyl, head analyst for Ukrtsukor, the National Association of Sugar Producers. Uzbekistan accounts for 47% of sugar purchases from Ukraine, followed by Azerbaijan with 14.5%, and Libya with 7.4%. Last month, Uzbekistan halted imports of Ukrainian sugar and pharmaceutical drugs, in response to Kyiv’s investigation of alleged subsidies by Uzbekistan in the manufacture of small cars -- the Chevrolet and Ravon. Last week, Ukraine’s Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade dropped the investigation.
Since the start of the marketing year in July, Ukraine has exported 21mn tons of grains . Dragon Capital writes: “We estimate grain exports in 2018/19 marketing year may also hit a new annual record of 45-46mn tons, up 12-16% y/y. Although domestic storage and transport bottlenecks, which grew acute this year, may constrain shipments, strong grain exports in November indicate achieving a new record export volume is feasible.”
The trade turnover between Ukraine and Lithuania in 2018 has grown by 20%,  First Vice Prime Minister – Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv announced during the opening of the fourth Ukrainian-Lithuanian economic forum on Dec. 7.
Ukraine imported $2.7bn worth of coal in the January-November period,
an 11% increase compared to the same period of last year, according to Ukraine’s fiscal services. But 62% of those imports – $1.7bn worth – came from Russia, a country that is waging war against Ukraine.
Ukraine poultry export earnings are up by one third, to $472mn , through November, compared to the first 11 months of last year. In volume, exports are up 22%, to 304,000 tons. Last year, Ukraine was the world’s eighth largest exporter of frozen chicken meat, between Turkey in seventh place and France in ninth place.
