4.2 Inflation
As of January 1, the energy market regulator, EPDK, hiked electricity prices by around 52% for households that consume less than 150kWh (as of February the limit was increased to 210 kWh) of electricity/month while the increase was set at 127% for those that consume more than the limit.
State-owned pipeline company BOTAS separately hiked natural gas prices by 25% for residential users to TRY1,860/1,000 cubic metres and by 50% for industrial users. The price rise was 15% for electricity-generating industrial use.
As of February 1, Botas raised natural gas prices for electricity production by 14%.
Gasoline and diesel prices surpassed TRY15 per litre.
