in the sector-wide acceptance of LNG as
a transport fuel for shipping was taken by Containerships Nord.  e procedure, known as simultaneous bunkering, allows ships to signi cantly cut their port call times.  e operation took place at the RST terminal at prins Willem Alexanderhaven in Rotterdam.  e LNG was supplied by Shell.
 e port of Rotterdam Authority helps to facilitate simultaneous bunkering. “ is is in line with our ambition to promote the energy transition within the shipping sector: from fuel oil to LNG,” explains port Authority COO Ronald paul.
 e success of this  rst bunkering operation has paved the way for a follow-
up by Containerships polar, Nord’s sister
ship. From now on, both vessels will be simultaneously bunkering LNG in Rotterdam. Containerships is a subsidiary of the French company CMA CGM, which is working to promote the energy transition in the container shipping sector. CMA CGM has already ordered 20 LNG-powered ships, which include nine 22,000-TEU vessels.

FSRU arrives in Turkey
A new FSRU has arrived in Turkey, Anadolu Agency has reported.  e vessel le  Hyundai Heavy Industries, in South Korea, on June 11.
 is FSRU will replace Turkey’s  rst FSRU, which began operations in 2016.
 e new vessel has storage capacity of 170,000 cm and can inject 28mn cm of gas into the system per day.
 is is Turkey’s third FSRU. A er tests, it will be connected to the gas system. It will
be used by BOTAS to handle imports from various producers, including Algeria and Qatar. BOTAS already has one FSRU in the country, which can store 263,000 cm – the largest such vessel in the world.  roughput is 20mn cm per day.
Turkey imports around 300mn cm per day of gas.  is is expected to rise to 400mn cm by 2023.

Qatar Airways purchase of  ve Boeing 777 Freighters;  e Qatar Airways commitment to purchase large-cabin aircra  from Gulfstream;  e Chevron-phillips Chemical Company LLC and Qatar petroleum agreement to pursue the development, construction, and operation of a petrochemicals complex
in Qatar;  e Qatar Ministry of Defense’s commitment to acquire Raytheon’s NASAM and patriot Systems;  e selection by Qatar Airways of GE jet engines and services to power its 787 and 777 Aircra .
 ese are only the most recent examples of what continue to be strong commercial, political, and security ties between the United States and Qatar. We are committed to continuing the positive partnership between our two countries.
