Eni finds oil at Eban field offshore Ghana

GHANA ITALY’S Eni reported last week that it had
discovered a significant volume of crude oil at
Eban, a prospect within the licence area known
as Cape Three Points (CTP) Block 4 offshore
                         Ghana.
In a statement, Eni explained that it had
found the oil in Eban-1X, the second explo-
ration well drilled at the block. It said it had
used the Saipem 10000 drillship to sink the
well to a depth of 4,179 metres at a site lying in
                         545-metre-deep water.
The well encountered a single column of light
crude oil measuring approximately 80 metres in
a thick interval of sandstone within the Ceno-
manian layer, it noted. The column extended
down to a true vertical depth of 3,949 metres,
it added. Eban can be connected to a nearby FPSO via subsea tie-ins (Photo: Eni)
