Kernel, Ukraine's leading sunflower oil producer, increased its oilseeds processing by 9%​ y/y, to a record 3.4mn tons, the company reports. Oil sales fell by 6%, to 1.5mn tons. Kernel, Ukraine’s largest grain exporter, increased its grain exports by 30% y/y, to 7.9mn tons in the marketing year that ended in June. With this volume, Kernel handled 14% of Ukraine’s total exports last year of 56.5mn tons.

MHP poultry sales decline 6% y/y in 2Q20. ​Ukraine's largest poultry producer MHP (MHPC LI, MHPSA) sold 170.9 kt of poultry meat in 2Q20, a 5.7% y/y decrease (and 8.4% qoq increase), according to its July 27 trading update. The company’s poultry exports dropped 9.2% y/y to 88.5 kt (up 7.9% qoq), while domestic sales slid 1.7% y/y to 82.4 kt (or 8.9% qoq growth) in 2Q20. MHP’s poultry meat sales at its EU-based facilities were 15.9 kt, or flat y/y (and 4.4% growth qoq) in 2Q20. During the quarter, the average selling poultry price dropped 15.8% y/y to $1.27/kg (and 7.3% decrease qoq). That implies MHP’s revenue from poultry sales dropped 14.2% y/y to $217mn in 2Q20. MHP’s EU-based facilities average selling price was EUR 2.5/kg, or 6.4% lower y/y (and 2.3% lower qoq) in 2Q20. In 1H20, MHP’s poultry sales decreased 4.9% y/y to 328.4 kt and the average selling price fell 9.0% y/y to $1.32/kg. The company’s export sales dropped 10.5% y/y to 170.6 kt, while domestic market sales rose 2.0% y/y to 157.8 kt in 1H20.

Ovostar egg production rises 1% y/y, egg sales drop 20% y/y in 1H20.
Egg producer Ovostar Union (OVO PW) reported in its July 22 trading update that its 1H20 shell egg production rose 1.4% y/y to 793mn units. The company’s total hen flock rose 9.0% y/y to 8.24mn and the laying hen flock increased 6.1% y/y to 6.91mn. The company’s shell egg sales dropped 19.7% y/y to 490mn units and its egg export volume plunged 49.6% y/y to 169mn units in 1H20. Its shell egg prices slid 6.3% y/y to $0.059/unit in 1H20. Ovostar processed 290mn eggs (a 1.0% decrease y/y) and sold 6,401 t of liquid egg products (9.0% decline y/y) as their export volume dropped 29.1% y/y to 2,467 t in 1H20. The sales of dry egg products jumped 61.0% y/y to 1,658 t and export volumes surged 70.6% y/y to 1,218 t in 1H20. In 2Q20, the company’s egg production rose 0.8% y/y to 401mn units (or a 2.3% increase qoq). Shell egg sales decreased 9.5% y/y to 249mn units (or 3.3% rose qoq) and export volumes dropped 40.9% y/y to 88mn units (or 8.6% growth qoq) in 2Q20. The average price of shell eggs was $0.059/unit in 2Q20, which is 5.9% higher y/y and flat qoq.
