Nova Posta’s parcel deliveries increased by one third y/y during the first half of this year. During the period, which included the quarantine, deliveries grew by 32%, to hit 128mn parcels. International deliveries -- largely from China – doubled, to 2.4mn. The company said much of the growth came from customers making cheaper purchases more often.
The EBRD plans to lend Ukrposhta €53mn for a €102mn program to buy mobile post office vans for rural areas and to build automated sorting hubs for Kyiv, Lviv and Dnipro. The European Investment Bank plans to lend €30mn and the state postal company plans to complete the project financing with €19mn of its own money, reports EBRD.

Energoatom, Ukraine’s state nuclear power company, has received a €100mn tranche of a loan from Euratom, the European Atomic Energy Community. Under agreements made in 2014, Euratom and the EBRD are each loaning Energoatom €300mn to implement safety measures at Ukraine’s 15 nuclear power plants. Nuclear supplies about half of Ukraine’s electricity.
Naftogaz Group’s Andriivka Solar Power Plant (SPP) in Balaklia district (Kharkiv region) has begun operating. Andriivka SPP is a pilot project of the New Energy business division, which is responsible for the technical and regulatory analysis of renewables development within the Group. The plant’s capacity is 0.999 MW. Equipment and construction services have been purchased through competitive bidding via the Prozorro system. Most of materials used in the construction of the plant are manufactured in Ukraine.
Despite uncertainty about rates, work continues on two new wind farms.
Southern Energy LLC plans to complete by February a $65mn, 76 MW wind farm near Odesa’s port city of Yuzhne, reports timer-odessa.net. At the other end of the country, at Zarichne, near Rivne’s border with Belarus, a German company plans to build a 110 MW wind farm, reports bug.org.ua. The multi-million dollar project calls for the construction of 22 windmills of 5.5 MW generating capacity apiece.

Metinvest affiliate Pokrovske Coal output jumps 30% in 1H20. Private joint stock company Pokrovske Coal produced 15.5 kt of raw coking coal per day in 1H20 (2.81mmt for the period), a 29.5% y/y jump, according to Concorde Capital’s analysis of Energy Ministry data, as reported by Interfax-Ukraine on July 10.
