In the passenger car segment, Fiat was the largest player as it sold nearly 11,000 vehicles in February, followed by Renault at 9,600 units. Volkswagen and Toyota sold 8,400 and 7,900 passenger cars, respectively.
In February, the government increased the special consumption tax on electric cars to between 330% and 400%.
Turkey’s auto market grew 37% y/y to 102,000 in January-February.
The automotive industry was Turkey’s largest exporting sector in February with $2.5bn shipments.
