6.1.6 Utilities sector news
The Cayirhan B (800 MW), Agan (1,580 MW) and Ayas (625 MW) coal power plant projects were cancelled.
The Chinese-backed $1.7bn 1,320MW Hunutlu coal power plant in Adana is now the only coal plant under construction in Turkey.
Turkey’s energy ministry pre-qualified 709 project proposals with a combined capacity of 9,440MW in a mini solar Renewable Energy Resource Zone (YEKA) tender it held for 79 solar power plants with a combined capacity of 1GW.
