bne:TMT KKR and EBRD sell
Croatia’s Total TV
Telecom provider United Group, owned by US investment firm
KKR and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), has announced the sale of Total TV in Croatia, a satellite TV distribution platform, Total Croatia News reported on January 14.
The move will allow the company go ahead with the acquisition
of Croatia’s most popular TV channel, Nova TV. In November, the Croatian regulator of electronic media blocked the acquisition of Nova TV claiming it would break the country’s laws. According to Croatian legislation, the same or connected companies cannot own both TV distribution platforms and TV channels.
In July, Czech Republic-based broadcaster Central European Media Enterprises (CME) announced the divestiture of its leading Croatian and Slovenian TV stations to United Group's Slovenia Broadband for €230mn ($262.5mn) in cash to pay down debt.
Dean Zigon, supervisory board member and employee representative at Telekom Slovenije dd, the parent company of Slovenia’s state-owned Telekom Slovenije Group, has resigned, the company announced on January 18 without providing additional details about Zigon’s reasons to step back.
According to the official Telekom Slovenije dd website, Zigon is a sales manager employed in the Telekom Slovenije business sales department. He is also the president of the SINEKS trade union and member of the Works Council.
