The G7 ambassadors welcomed the launch of the Ethics Council for Judicial Reform which included the start of work by the Ethics Council to the High Council of Justice on 1 December. “We look forward to this joint Ukrainian-international body moving forward with its important work in reforming the HCJ”, announced G7 on Twitter.
The United States has requested that a new head of the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutors Office (SAP) be appointed by the end of the year. This was announced by the Chargé d'Affaires of the United States in Ukraine Christina Quinn during the conference "Seven Years of Anti-Corruption Reform".

    The Ministry of Digital Transformation partners with Apple to conduct 2023 census. The 2023 census will be the first national census in Ukraine in over 20 years. The last one took place in 2021. Ukraine will be the second country in the world to collaborate with Apple on a national census after the U.S. In 2020, the U.S. government partnered with Apple to assist door-to-door enumerators by providing them with iPhone 8 devices with a specially designed offline app that allowed enumerators to record data, log hours and expenses, reference a script and leave notes for other employees, among other features.
Currently, 24% of decided voters would vote for President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in the first round of voting, Razumkov Centre and Democratic Initiatives Fund announced on December 29. His nearest competitor is former president Petro Poroshenko, at 16%. Former PM Yuliya Tymoshenko ranks third, at 10% of decided voters. The poll was taken over December 17-22, 2021. The pollsters also noted that support for former parliamentary speaker Dmytro Razumkov had risen by statistically important amounts, to 7.0% from 5.5% since November. Razumkov’s rise is noted further by the fact that currently among decided voters, in a second round, Razumkov would beat Zelenskiy at 56%-44%, and that compared to November, “the share of those willing to vote for Razumkov increased from 25% to 30% of all respondents.” A Poroshenko - Razumkov second round would go to Razumkov by a 61-39% split, while a Poroshenko-Zelenskiy second round was tied.
Support for NATO membership among Ukrainians reaches a historic high. If Ukraine was to hold a referendum on joining NATO, 54% of respondents would support joining the Alliance. This is the most increased support for NATO membership since 2014. In addition to this, 28% would vote against, 3% would not vote, and 15% find it challenging to answer. The survey was conducted by the Sociological Group "Rating" and in the period 6 to 15 November 2021, with a sample group of 2,400 respondents throughout Ukraine, excluding the territories occupied by Russia.
A majority of Ukrainians would vote for joining the European Union and NATO if the referendum took place in the upcoming week, according to a Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) survey published on December 24. The poll showed that 67% of surveyed Ukrainians would support joining the EU, while nearly 22% would vote against it. Just over 59% of surveyed Ukrainians would vote for Ukraine to join NATO. At the same time, 28% would oppose that.
