Ukraine’s Consumer Sentiment Index jumped 7% from June to July, to 88 points, the highest level since August 2013. The Index “has reached a new peak,” reports Info Sapiens, which conducts the survey with GfK Ukraine and Dragon Capital. “Confidence in the new government contributes to the growth of positive expectations regarding the development of the economy as a whole.”
Zelenskiy has a 58% approval rating and a 19% disapproval rating, a position that is fairly constant across the nation. For the first time since the Rating Group started asking the question, in 2011, more Ukrainians say the country is going in the right direction – 41% -- than those saying it is going in the wrong direction – 37%.
Public optimism in Ukraine highest since 2005, poll says Public optimism in Ukraine is at its highest level since 2005, when such polling began, according to an annual survey conducted by the Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Fund and Kyiv International Institute of Sociology. About 36.3% of Ukrainians said they feel optimism, compared to 33.8% in 2005, immediately following the Orange revolts. About 55.8% of Ukrainians said they feel hope, the highest since 2005, when about 61.2% said they feel hope. About 50.5% of Ukrainians believe the country is moving in the right direction, the highest since this question (posed on an annual basis) was first presented in April 2004. This year’s poll was conducted among 2,040 respondents between August 8 and 20.
