Ukraine's PrivatBank challenges London court ruling
The Court of Appeal in England and Wales has started considering an appeal by Ukraine's largest lender PrivatBank against a first instance decision on the discrepancy in the jurisdiction of the bank's claim against ex-owners, oligarchs Ihor Kolomoisky and Hennadiy Bogolyubov.
According to an unnamed source familiar with the case cited by Interfax, the hearings started on July 23 and are to last about five days. The source reportedly noted that the main subject of consideration will be the justification of the first instance refusal of consideration of the dispute under the British jurisdiction and the corresponding interim measures.
In November 2018, a London court concluded that it does not have jurisdiction over Ukraine's claims against the businessmen, who were challenging the applicability of the jurisdiction of the High Court of Justice in London.
Leading Russian consumer lender TCS Group that operates Rus- sia’s only pure online bank Tinkoff Bank has started b2b speech recognition services, Kommersant daily reported on July 22 citing representatives of the company.
TCS will allow third parties to develop their own voice recognition applications such as voice assistants and robots for call centres, using the Tinkoff VoiceKit that resulted in the AI assistant of Tinkoff Bank, Oleg.
The market for outsourcing solutions for voice services is estimated at RUB3bn annually, and is already quite saturated by large players, internet major Yandex being among them. Yandex.SpeechKit has been on the market with its first instruments since 2013.
Georgian prosecutors on July 24 charged TBC Bank founders Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze, currently chairman and deputy chairman of TBC Bank Group, with laundering $16.75mn in 2007-2008.
TBC Bank Group’s shares plunged nearly 12% on the day of the news.
The group issued a release explaining that the two, as non-executives, were not involved in its day-to-day management. There has been
no suggestion of any charges being brought against TBC Bank Group, TBC Bank or any other member of the group, the press release added.
