NEWS IN BRIEF

New domestic gas supply for this proposed new Townsville refining project would initially be drawn from Blue Energy’s ATP814P Sapphire Block which has been independently assessed
to contain nearly 216 PJ of 3P reserves and a further 186 PJ of Contingent Resource, and is located only 12 km from the existing Moranbah Gas Project gas processing facilities and less than 2 km from existing gas field gathering infrastructure.
The broader Northern Bowen Basin
Gas Province has a discovered resource of approximately 15,000 PJ of gas which is sufficient to underpin the east coast domestic gas market for the next 30 years, based on current market conditions. Blue’s component of this estimate is currently 3,248PJ. Development
of this Basin-wide resource and a single large diameter multi-user gas trunk line connection to the south would provide security of supply
for east coast manufacturers and with this additional supply, will put downward pressure on prices. The additional gas availability would also generate the expansion of industry in the greater North Queensland region.

Woodside ups Scarborough resource volume by 52%
The estimated gross contingent resource (2C) dry gas volume for the Scarborough field has increased to 11.1 Tcf (100%; 8.3 Tcf Woodside share), up 52% from 7.3 Tcf (100%; 5.5 Tcf Woodside share).
Woodside’s interest in Greater Scarborough (covering the Scarborough, Thebe and Jupiter fields) comprises a 75% interest in WA-1-R (which contains the majority of the Scarborough field) and a 50% interest in each of WA-61-R, WA-62-R and WA-63-R. Woodside is the operator of these retention leases.
As a result of the Scarborough resource volume increase, Greater Scarborough
contains an estimated gross dry gas contingent resource (2C) volume of 13.0 Tcf (100%; 9.3
Tcf Woodside share), a 41% increase from the previous 9.2 Tcf (100%; 6.4 Tcf Woodside share).
The increased volume estimates follow completion of integrated subsurface studies incorporating full waveform inversion (FWI) 3D seismic reprocessing and updated petrophysical interpretation. The new FWI 3D seismic reprocessing improved the reservoir imaging quality and increased reservoir sand distribution. In addition, a comprehensive integrated review of the wireline log data and measurements
from special core analysis has increased net
sand proportion and gas saturations. Assurance of this work has been provided by an external independent reserves auditor.
Woodside’s overall Corporate Contingent
Resources (2C) have increased by 503 MMboe to 6,020 MMboe.
Woodside is targeting a final investment decision for the development of the Scarborough gas resource in the first half of 2020. Scarborough gas would be initially processed
on a deep-water floating production unit and transported through an approximately 430 km pipeline to a proposed second LNG production train at the existing Woodside-operated Pluto LNG facility on Western Australia’s Burrup Peninsula.

Historic day for landmark
climate change legislation
in New Zealand
The passing of the Climate Change Response (Zero Carbon) Amendment Bill will
help ensure a safe planet for our kids and grandkids, the Minister for Climate Change James Shaw said today.
The landmark legislation which provides
a framework to support New Zealanders to prepare for, and adapt to, the effects of climate change delivers on the Government’s Coalition and Confidence Supply agreements, and is a key part of the Government’s plan to tackle the long- term challenge of climate change.
“This is a historic piece of legislation and is the centrepiece for meaningful climate change action in New Zealand”, James Shaw said.
“Climate change is the defining long-
term issue of our generation that successive Governments have failed to address. Today we take a significant step forward in our plan to reduce New Zealand’s emissions.
“We as the elected representatives of New Zealanders must take the opportunity to act on climate change before the window closes.
“We’ve led the world before in nuclear disarmament and in votes for women, now we are leading again.
“The Bill had nearly eleven thousand written and oral submissions. The Committee heard from parents, students, scientists, farmers, academics, health professionals, activists, iwi, local government and many more.
“This Bill belongs to New Zealand, and together we have ensured law that ensures we shift towards a low emissions country that keeps us all safe.
The budgets provide the pathway towards the 2050 target, and confidence for New Zealanders that we are moving towards a more climate- resilient future.”
