Turkish-French automaking joint venture Oyak Renault signed a five-year agreement under which Turkey’s vehicle manufacturer Karsan will produce its Megane sedan model.
The agreement will see the transfer of the existing Megane sedan production to Karsan, thus making room for a new generation of vehicles to be produced at the Oyak Renault factory. The production shift is expected to take place in the second half of 2022.
Karsan will be responsible for the production and assembly of the vehicle, while Oyak Renault will continue to produce chassis parts.
The project aims for Karsan to work to a yearly production capacity of 55,000 units.
Oyak Renault has an annual production volume of 378,000 cars and 920,000 engines. The new Clio and new Clio Hybrid are also among the car models it produces.
