4.2 Inflation
Russia is on course to hit the 4% inflation target by the start of spring.
Russia’s weekly inflation posted 0.1% on the week of April 4 to April 10, the state statistics agency RosStat reported. The indicator remained stable at 0-0.1% since the beginning of 2017, as part of the disinflation trend advancing ahead of the curve planned by the Central Bank of Russia (CBR) that managed to curb annual price growth below 5% for the first time in post-Soviet history .
On April 12, the CBR's research and forecasting department said in the report that the 4% annual inflation goal could be reached already in April-May . However, the regulator still sees inflationary risks appearing in the second half of 2017. Analysts surveyed by Reuters also expect the target of 4% to be hit by the end of spring.
