The monthly net minimum wage was TRY2,020 in 2019 and it was hiked to 2,324 for 2020.
Around 40% of Turkey’s labour force earns a minimum wage.
Turkish private sector companies are planning to increase salaries of their employees by 17% on average next year, according to a survey jointly conducted by Endeavor and Talentmelon.
The survey covered 46 leading companies in Turkey’s private sector.
Some 92% of those companies said they would increase salaries next year. Of those, 86% suggested the pay hike would be higher than annual inflation, currently officially standing at 11.9% but thought to be much higher in reality by many analysts.
Despite the challenges from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the companies were not considering cutting wages or laying off employees.
Software developers are the best paid employees in Turkey, the survey also revealed.
Salaries of software developers on average stand 20% higher than those of other employees. The monthly entrance salary of a software developer is between Turkish lira (TRY) 3,800 (€398) and TRY6,250. A software developer with one to three years experience is paid as much as TRY8,000. A senior İOS mobile software developer’s salary can be as much as TRY21,000 a month.
