4.4.3​ Retail sector dynamics
Ukraine retail sales advanced 13.5% y/y in real terms in 2M19, ​speeding up from 12.1% y/y in January, Ukraine’s State Statistics Service reported on March. 20. In February, retail jumped 15.7% y/y, but declined 0.7% m/m in real terms.
Regionally, the highest retail growth in 2M20 occurred in Volyn (19.1% y/y), Zaporizhia (19.0% y/y), and the Kyiv (18.1% y/y) region. It was slowest in the Zakarpattia (0.1% y/y), Chernivtsi (7.6% y/y), and Ukraine-controlled Luhansnk (7.9% y/y) regions.
February’s consumer deflation prompted the accelerated growth of retail. Remarkably, the growth of retail was observed in all the regions of Ukraine.
