Central Asia, in areas around China, might be the next place for the creation of some miracles by Turkey.
Across the post-World War II era, Turkey’s economic and political cycles have been going through a good decade followed by a bad decade.
Across a (more or less) decade, there is an inflow of dollars and the Turks object that the country is developing too far, too quickly.
Then, across the next (more or less) decade, the dollars go and Turkey returns to where it began.
And, it repeats.
Since 2013, Turkey has been enjoying its bad decade. The next one will be a good one.
However, an interim government is required to sign the IMF deal and do the bad jobs (some laws etc. that will hit masses of people and create discontent among the everyday toilers). This will mean shake-ups among the coalition partners and then a properly powerful government that will implement the IMF programme will form.
For the interim regime, main opposition CHP leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu is a candidate to become president and lead the planned shift back to the parliamentary system. Or, neo-cons is encouraging Erdogan’s defence minister Hulusi Akar to plot a coup. Things are not so certain yet. Developments are awaited.
Finally, the nuclear option (domestic violence or wars) that could be staged by Erdogan should also not be overlooked as a possibility.
