 2.2 Ukraine War
On February 24, the Putin regime occupied the global agenda by launching a full-on invasion in Ukraine.
February 24 was a real shock. The expectation was a limited invasion in the Donbas region (south-eastern red region below) but the Russians are currently invading eastern Ukraine as a whole. (See live map here.)
The red denotes the Russian armed forces. In Georgia, Russia invaded Abkhazia and South Ossetia in 2008. The Ukrainians seem to be aiming to defend west of the black line, while conducting guerrilla warfare in the east.
The Putin regime aimed for a fait accompli as happened in Chechnya (2000), Georgia (2008) and Crimea (2014). There was some noise in the media (useful for Western states) and nothing else.
However, the latest sanctions are not totally useless or nonsensical. As of March 6, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin is in trouble.
It should be noted that this is a real state-against-state war. There will be ups and downs. It is too early to drive on for some conclusions as how this war business will evolve is as yet unknown.
As of March 6, Ukraine was resisting. If the resistance goes on, the Putin regime will face troubles.
The Russian establishment never reads the fable of “the frog and ox.” Then, it falls into intra-state clashes as was the case in 1989 or 1917.
The war in Ukraine gets full-blown global media focus, which means too much noise and manipulation. It is time to avoid jumping on all information presented by the media.
If World War III will break out in Ukraine, it will be extremely stupid as the Biden administration has not even managed to get round to its real task, a task called China.
