Ukraine’s labour market is slowly coming back to life. Ukraine saw a 7.3% decline in unemployment in March 2019. Unemployment in the first quarter of this year fell back to 9.2% from 9.3% in the last quarter of last year.
The ratio of unemployed people to vacancies, has fallen from five people per job opening in January, to three people per vacancy in March, reports the State Statistics Service.
Unemployment rose to a peak of 9.9 in 2017 but fell back to 8.8% in 2018 and expected to fall to 8% this year, according to SP Advisors. Unemployment will be held down by the fact that every fifth worker has chosen to emigrate to look for work in EU countries.
