Italy’s Baxter is bringing bigger and better to Miami.
In a world of look-but- don’t-touch modern design, Italy’s Baxter is mak- ing furniture that’s actually meant to be lived in—deeply. The Como-based company, founded by brothers Luigi and Paolo Bestetti, specializes in fine, supple leathers and collaborations with design superstars like Piero Lissoni
and Paola Navone. But while the brand’s sofas are undeni- ably stylish, it’s their size that stands out the most. Models such as the ultra-deep Buda- pest and the curvy new Leon are so ample, they could double as daybeds, and they’re spacious enough to accom- modate even the most long- legged physiques.
“The oversize scale and depth of the Baxter collec- tion make it one of the rare go-to luxury brands for NBA, NFL, and professional soccer players,” says Elizabeth Potter, director of Baxter, which
this summer debuted its first American showroom in Miami’s Design District. “Recently, we had one of
the most legendary FIFA soccer players in the world become a huge Baxter fan,” she adds, explaining that after stretching out on one of the brand’s nearly four-foot-deep Budapest sofas for just a few minutes, the athlete purchased two for his homes in Miami and Europe. baxter.it
