The Castle Air Museum in Merced
County is located in the heart of the San
Joaquin Valley is one of the largest
aviation museums on the west coast. It is a
premier destination for aviation enthusiasts a
tourists alike. Seventy restored vintage aircraft,
pre World War II to the present, are located at
the museum on accessible walking grounds.
Open Cockpit Day is a special time for
tourists to appreciate the interiors of many
of the aircraft. The indoor aircraft
museum has a fascinating
collection of wartime
aircraft engines,
historic photos
and artifacts.
