                                        Tie Knots

IF YOU WORRY THAT TYING KNOTS is going to be difficult to
learn, this chapter should help you get the most out of your efforts.
With a little work, you will soon find that it is not difficult to use
rope and twine to make any knot you want.

                       Book Learning

Learning knots from a book can increase your knotting skill in
many ways. You can study many new knots, of course, but you
may be surprised at how much you can learn about knots you
already tie. Even for knots you are already familiar with, you can
                       learn the following:

                          • Alternative tying methods
                          • New applications
                          • Tips for tightening
                          • Tips for untying
                          • Safety information
                          • Historical information

                          Learning from Diagrams
Although both illustrations and text convey much information
in knot books, it is the illustrations that intimidate most people.
