Plain and Fancy
From plain knots fancier types can
be formed, since the basic features of
bights, loops, and turns are merely
compounded in the making of the
more intricate rope designs.
A knot that is complicated is not
entitled to the rating of "fancy." It
should be decorative as well - and if
useful, so much the better. Along
with these features, there is the actual
formation of the knots, some having
special merit because of the ingenious
W:ly!'l in which they are £a"hioned.
