Athletic Award
 Paul Beskid
Paul was a faculty member and coach at Padua from 1968-1982, where he was an inspiration to his students and co-workers. During his time at Padua, Paul taught business classes, coached football, baseball and was the Athletic Director for four years.
Paul started as the assistant baseball coach under Chuck Priefer, then took over the program as head coach in 1972. During his tenure, Padua’s baseball teams won over 350 games, including a trip to the State Finals in 1977. The Bruins finished as the State-Runner up, the best finish in the school’s baseball history. During his time as a football coach, he worked closely with Chuck Priefer and Tom Kohuth. Paul was a member of the varsity coaching staff and head junior varsity football coach.
Paul attended St. Francis de Sales grade school and Benedictine High School, where he excelled at football, basketball and baseball. Paul played Cleveland Class AAA Baseball for J Schrader’s, Rosenblum’s and Airamatic Value. He also played in the Cleveland Charity Game on Thanksgiving for the Cleveland East-West Senate Championship.
Ryan Gorius ’95
Ryan excelled in both football and basketball at Padua. Ryan helped Padua’s football team to reach the regional finals his senior season. He was a 1st team All-State, All-Conference, Conference MVP, set eight school records as a running back, and averaged 100 yards rushing in 33 career high school football games. On the basketball court, Ryan earned 2nd team All-State honors, and was named 1st team All- Conference and team captain.
After graduating from Padua, Ryan attended Mount Union College where he was a four-year letter winner in football. He won three National Titles, and was a two-year starter. During his senior year, Ryan was selected as team captain, and also earned All-Conference (OAC) honors.
Ryan continued to share his talents and experience after he graduated from Mount Union and coached at Illinois Wesleyan and Coe College. He was the running back coach at Coe, where he coached Fred Jackson, (starting running back for the Buffalo Bills) for three years. He was an assistant coach at Alliance High School, Chagrin Falls High School and Bay High School before becoming the head football coach at Bay High School. While head coach at Bay High School, he was also actively involved in the community and the football program.
