The Not’s
Hopeless, sinking, drowning, feeling,
Thoughts and thoughts and thoughts are reeling. Always smiling, always there,
Look at me; do you care?
You stand so close, you stand so near,
Heart’s so loud you’re bound to hear.
You make me smile when I frown,
You help me up when I fall down.
We talk about everything under the sun,
Time flies so fast when we have fun.
We are so alike, you and I,
But you’re outgoing and I’m shy.
That’s not where our differences end,
Do you even call me ‘friend’?
I know it’s hopeless, I know it’s so,
But I’ll never let you know.
“And how are you today?”
You ask me but I’m not okay,
Because to you I’ll never be,
As important as you are to me.
But still I have the heart to smile,
For though we travel many a mile,
Everyone one day will find,
A kindred spirit, a heart so kind.
So to all of you out there, don’t cry!
Even if you’re really shy.
Even if you’re not this’s or that’s,
Even if you have a hundred cats.
Even if you hate your looks,
Even if your friends are books.
Even if you hate to speak,
Even if you are a geek.
Even if you’ve never dated,
And believe it isn’t fated.
Even if you’re not that smart,
What matters most is in your heart.
This goes out to all of you,
I see your beauty through and through.

The Eagle and the Sparrow
You were sweeter than chocolate,
And I was just a fly away bird,
Pushing away all the people,
Who were trying to keep me in the nest.
I didn’t want another bird to come along;
I wanted to fly free, away from that cage of straw, And away from all that I had known.
But you were an eagle and I was a sparrow.
You, much stronger than I; I was amazed.
You protected me in your wings,
And encouraged me to fly to new heights.
When I fell, you’d swoop down before I could fall.
Little did we both know; I already had. And in your strength, you taught me that, I didn’t have to be an eagle to be strong, Because although a sparrow is small-
It is strong on its own.
In a box of chocolates,
You were my favorite kind;
A lucky surprise that I found you, Out of all the others out there.
An eagle and a sparrow, who would’ve thought. An odd and complex pair that,
Couldn’t have been a better match.
A fly away bird who found a new home, In the heart of an eagle,
In a sky unknown.

Study Hall
As I sit in study hall
I hear the sounds of water fall
I see the kids both big and small As we sit in study hall one and all
I think about
The time I’ve spent
With all of a shadow of a doubt That with him I’ve made not a dent I wish that he would notice me Trying to get him now
But all he sees is me and he
As we are that is how
It would be so very grand
If he would talk to me at band
But I know I must wait and see
For all that there is to hopefully be.
