NHS is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. NHS honors students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of academics, leadership, character, and service.National Honor Society Induction 2017Kristen Seballos Named National Merit Commended StudentPadua Franciscan High School senior Kristen Seballos ’18 was recognized as a National Merit Commended Student. A letter of commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation was presented to Kristen by Principal David Stec ’86 in September.About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation were recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended Students placed among the top fve percent of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2018 competition by taking the 2016 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.A NMSC spokesperson stated, “Te young men and women being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success. Tese students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key roletheir schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.” Kristen is a graduate of the Academy of St. Bartholomew.21
