Fallen Leaf
High up above on the treetops
Was a leaf that swayed in the early dawn.
It danced to the song the wind was playing, No matter how harsh or how calm.
It glistened with dew When the sun woke up, Brightly shining its colors Of orange and red.
One day it will brown,
And float gently to the ground, To start another chapter
That its life entails.

The Awaited Arrival
The leaves on the branches change to shades of deep auburn, burnt orange, and sunburst yellow
I can hear the chilled wind whistle past my ears
I can smell the warmth of mother’s sweet
cinnamon apple pie bubbling in the oven
The cold crisp cider slides down my throat
The plump pumpkins are properly placed along the patio My brother decorates his pumpkin like it’s Halloween night The wind makes the windows rattle with excitement
I give my mother a hand by raking copious
amounts of leaves in the yard
Crunch! Go the dead leaves as I walk over them
I trip over a dead branch as I am walking by
Did you have a nice fall?
My brother says as he laughs at me
I am bundled so nicely in my sweatshirt and scarf
It’s not too cold and not too hot just perfect
Time slows down and the world seems quieter
Autumn has arrived and it couldn’t be better
