Horizon 2017
33
Cold eyed veteran reporting for work. Her first decade striking back.
The terrorists deserve to rot in the dirt, And she would make sure of that.
Dead eyed killer reporting for duty. Her first score serving her land. Potential wasted on mutiny,
And the blood stained on her hand.
Day 25 - Retribution
Unbridled power coursing through The metal wires, plates, and screws. Of the artificial arm,
Gifted at inflicting harm
To all those who would dare cross The invention and its boss.
For this weapon he intends,
To exact his sweet revenge, Against the mother of his wife, For she the one who stole his life. She was so vile on her own,
And for her sins she must atone.
Evil was his scheme indeed,
But he had a mighty need
To get revenge against the one
Who killed his family with a gun.
A boy who had done nothing wrong, Now wept with the church’s song.
A boy who now became a man, Ready to exact his plan.
He lets loose an evil laugh,
For helplessness has come to pass.
Day 26 - We’ve Learned Our ABCs, Now
Set Us Free
An arduous age although annulled
Before bright boy’s bewildered bulbs.
Can call closure, concluding class, Dispatching delinquents, do dance, do dash. Ending education every’ear
For few fortnight, free from fear.
Gone grave grades, gone grumbling guys How happy humans harbor highs. Involved inventive intellectuals
Jiving, jamming, jolly jewels.
Kooky kiddos kissing kites
Lounging losers loving lights.
Many memories may months meet, Nuanced nexus, networking neat.
Open options out of our
Prudent poise, precipitous power. Queuing quiet, quaint, quintessence Roaring rigor, resonance.
Swimming, sleeping, summer swells- Ticking tocking time to tell.
Until upheaval undermines, Voluptuous vacation, vilifies.
We wish we would wander whereon Xanthic xenia xebecs xenon.
Yes, yesterday’s yearning yields. Zephyrs, zeniths, zelling zeal.
Day 27 - Aftermath
After yesterday
I am all poetried out. Too many letters.
Day 28 - Pick of the Palette
Of all the colors I could have picked
I was fortunate to get Geranium 15. Perfect color for highlighting lips,
If you’re an artist you know what I mean. Out of the browns, I suppose
Bareley Beige 29 will have to do.
At least I can shade the nose
With Cool Grey CG2.
My biggest problem was the hair,
I needed the colors to look great.
The beige was too dull to put in there, I settled for Turquoise Blue 68.
And for her dress, only the best, To make her look like eleven On a scale, a one to ten test
I used Grass Green 47.
Day 29 - Too Many
Six AM snooze.
Nine AM lose,
Finally time to get up.
Tie back my hair,
Brush teeth in despair
And drink from a paper cup. Dashing from place to place, Flushing of red on my face. Busy workload piles deep. It’s been a long day
Words aren’t my forte.
I think it’s time to sleep.
Day 30 - Journey of the Poet
The tapping the tapping The tapping of keys,
Filling the room,
For the ears, they do please.
Until the until the Until the screen glows, With nouns and verbs, And poetry throughs.
The glitter the glitter The glitter of smiles Grinning at statements And letters in piles.
The clicking the clicking The clicking of tongue As words read aloud Dance out and among.
The watching the watching The watching of folks, Crying at tragedies, Laughing at jokes.
The flipping the flipping The flipping to end
Of all the pages
That have been my friend.
