Padua Volleyball Wins Fourth State Title
e Lady Bruin Volleyball Team swept past Columbus Bishop Hartley in three sets to win the program’s fourth OHSAA Division II State Title in school history.
A er defeating the top-ranked, undefeated Lake Catholic High School on November 10 in the State Semi-Final, the Lady Bruins had momentum in their favor; however they had a tough task in defeating Columbus Bishop Hartley who was making its sixth appearance at the State Tournament.
Padua took the rst set 25-17. In the second set Padua rallied to score the nal ve points of the match for another 25-17 win. e third set was a 25-20 Bruin victory.
is is Padua’s rst Volleyball State Title since 2013. Parma City Council Members honored the team by presenting them with a State Championship sign on February 6.
Volleyball Individual Accomplishments
- Courtney Morris ’17 was recognized as a member of the 1st Team All-State and became Padua’s all-time leader in career assists.
- Cierah Jackson ’17 was recognized as a member of the 1st Team All-State. - Rachel Kopchu ’17 was recognized as a member of the Honorable
Mention Team for All-State.
Team Accomplishments
Boys Golf: e Boys Golf Team quali ed for States for the second year in a row.
Girls Cross Country: e Girls Cross Country Team made it to Regionals and nished 12th overall.
Figure Skating: e Figure Skating Team nished
as runner-up at the State Competition on Sunday, February 12, 2017.
Wrestling: e Wrestling Team won the Division II Sectional Championship for the second year in a row.
Girls Basketball: e Girls Basketball Team won the
NCL Championship (for the rst time since 2003) and reclaimed the District Title. ey advanced to the Division II Sweet 16.
