Jesus came to "deliver them who through fear of death were all their
lifetime subject to bondage" (Hebrews 2:15). If you're afraid to die
because
you might go to hell for not keeping the commandments sufficiently, you are
in bondage.
John 8:36 "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free
indeed."
SDAs need to see the faith-alone verses in Lesson 2.
SUPPOSED SDA PROOFTEXTS
Matthew 5:17-18 "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the
prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto
you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass
from the law, till all be fulfilled."
The phrase "shall in no wise pass from the law" does not mean "The law
shall always be IN EFFECT." It means the law will never be "destroyed," as
explained in verse 17. The law will always be preserved. It will always be
written down somewhere. That doesn't mean it will always be binding. He
said "fulfil." The subject is not obeying the law. The subject is fulfilling the
prophecies in the law and the prophets; hence He said "the law, or the
prophets."
The next verse is a "catch-22" for SDAs:
Matthew 5:19 "Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least
commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in
the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the
same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven."
The "kingdom of heaven" is not "heaven" (i.e. the third heaven). But even
if it was, the verse doesn't say that those who break the commandments
won't get in. It says they will be "called the least in" it. The "kingdom of
