Next Steps
If you are ready to put your home on the market here are some helpful
guidelines to get your home presented the best for potential buyers.
Declutter
Once you have made the decision to sell, you are actively choosing to move on from
your property. Therefore start to pack up bits and bobs to get you ahead of the
game but also to declutter your house so it appears to have lots of storage space and
make the photography look great.
Potential buyers want to feel like they can easily fit all their belongings and be well
organized. All built-in cabinets and closets are fair game for potential buyers to
inspect. These area's must be clean, neat and orderly. There are several key areas in
your house which you will want to focus your time:
1 - Kitchen
2 - Bathrooms
3 - Linen cupboards & wardrobes
4 - Kids stuff
Curb Appeal
Ensure your garden and lawns look green and clean. Remove all dead plants and
replace with live plants or leave empty. Fertilize your lawn, shrubs and trees, You
want everything to look healthy and easy to keep. Mulch all plant beds and around
trees to help prevent weeds. Potential buyers see a mulched yard as a well
maintained yard.
Also consider water-blasting the house and windows and roof so from the street the
house looks clean and well maintained. Again, as there is only one photography
shoot and all the photos will be used in print media, social media and all other
online advertising, you want the house to look amazing to get buyers to come to the
open homes.
