Cedar Point Tideland Trail

Hikers can explore boardwalks or smooth gravel paths. The trail is located at the Cedar Point Campground. Interpretive signs tell the story
of the forest, which is home to many varieties
of wildlife, including egrets, deer, and fish. The path starts with a 0.6 mile loop that crosses the salt marsh and follows its edge, then continues with a 1.3 mile loop, which then reconnects with the shorter loop.

This 3.7 mile trail is a moderately trafficked loop trail, which includes a river and is extremely easy for all ages. The trail allows dogs and is best visited during the months between March and October.
Latham-Whitehurst Nature Park

Latham-Whitehurst Nature Park is Craven County’s first nature park. Many resources are available including walking trails, restroom facilities, picnic shelters, hiking trails, nature observation, bird watching, and 133-acres of preserved coastal land make this park a favorite for many nature lovers.

This trail spans more than 20 miles and is
part of the Mountains to Sea Trail. Camping is permitted anywhere along the way, and two separate trails for hikers and horsemen are well marked with arrows.

Fishing opportunities abound with more than 500 publicly accessible areas. NCWRC fish attractor and county trout fishing maps and coordinates provide details to help create a memorable experience in nature. Fish species come in a wide variety including American and Hickory Shad, Largemouth Bass, White Perch, Black Crappie, Blue Catfish, Bowfin, and Brown Trout. North Carolina hosts hunting seasons for Black Bear, White-Tailed Deer, Wild Turkey, Quail, Mourning Doves, Waterfowl, and other small game. Explore hills and valleys filled with forest, water, and fresh air.
A hunting license may be purchased at any local dealer or online. License prices and seasons depend on game type. Licenses cost anywhere from $10 to $1,550, depending on what you plan to hunt.
