EXAMPLES OF EXPERIENCE /
     EDUCATION / TRAINING

     Any combination of training, education and/or experience which pro-
     vides the knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. An example of a
     way these requirements might be acquired is:

     Experience:
     A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in urban
     planning, regional planning, public or business administration or a
     closely related field. Certification with the American Institute of Certified
     Planners (AICP), or the ability to obtain the certification within 12 months
     of hire, is highly desirable.
     Education:

     Five (5) years of broad and progressively responsible administrative
     experience in the management of community planning or community
     development with responsibility for planning, organizing, coordinating
     and directing a diversified staff and complex programs of which included
     at least three (3) years’ experience in the public sector at the supervisory
     and/or management level.




     COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

     This is an at-will position. The salary range for the Director of Housing and Community Development is $185,868 to
     $253,848 and placement within the range is dependent on qualifications. The County also offers a competitive benefits
     package, Including:

     •   Retirement: Enrollment in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS)
         •   Classic CalPERS Member: 2% @ 55, 7% employee contribution

         •   New CalPERS Member: 2% @ 62, 7% employee contribution
     •   Paid leave: 23 days of annual leave in first year up to 37 days after 25 years, 12 holidays, 1 floating holiday; 10 days
         professional leave per year non-accruable
     •   Stipends: $375/month automobile allowance, $400/year professional development, $54.17 month management ex-
         pense allowance

     •   Life insurance, short and long-term disability insurance
     •   Deferred compensation voluntary plan

     REQUIRED CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT


     As a condition of employment, the incumbent will be required:
     •   Possess a valid California Class C Driver’s License at the time of appointment and possess and maintain a satisfactory
         driving record or produce evidence of suitable transportation which is approved by the appointing authority.
     •   Be available to work a flexible schedule, including evening, weekends, holidays and during times of disaster and/or
         emergency; travel out of County to attend meetings.
