The Catastrophic Leave Donation Program aims to provide support to County employees facing catastrophic
illnesses or those who are caring for a family member in a similar situation.
The Catastrophic Leave Donation Program is designed to assist employees who have exhausted their accrued
leave but still need time off work. In addition, it encourages fellow employees to voluntarily donate a portion
of their accrued leave to a shared Donated Leave Bank. Direct donations to a specific employee are not
permitted; however, employees who are deemed eligible may receive funds from the Donated Leave Bank
based on donations received from all County employees. This bank is a crucial resource for employees in dire
need of financial assistance during challenging times.
The Donated Leave bank is 100% funded by generous employees like you who donate hours to the bank. The
bank is currently running extremely low which could result in eligible employees not receiving any monies
from the bank. If you are feeling generous and want to help, please consider donating to the Donated Leave
Bank. You can donate as little as 8 hours or as much as 120 hours per calendar year and all donations, no
matter how small, are appreciated. You can donate any combination of sick leave, vacation leave, annual
leave, and Paid Time Off (PTO) hours. If you are reaching your maximum accrued leave limits or retiring soon
and have more than 750 hours of sick leave, this would be a great way to help someone when they need it
most.
To donate, complete the Application to Donate Leave form and submit it to your departmental Human
Resources Office.
