Practice 4G: Nouns and Pronouns. Under the nouns, type an N and under the pronouns (Pro) type a Pro in
the following sentences.
1. Jeroboam built Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim and lived there.
2. He went out and built Penuel.
3. Jeroboam said in his heart, “Now the kingdom will return to the house of David.”
4. Perhaps these people will offer sacrifices in the house of the Lord at Jerusalem.
5. The king made two golden calves.
6. He set one in Bethel, and the other he placed the other in Dan.
7. This thing became a sin because the people worshipped it.
8. Jeroboam started a feast in the eighth month on the fifteenth day of the month.
9. He placed the priests of the high places in Bethel.
10. The king went to the altar, and he burned incense.
Pronoun Agreement
A pronoun must agree with its antecedent in number (singular or plural) and gender (male or female).
Jeena saw Isaac at the church. She saw him at the church.
Jeena saw Isaac and Joshua at the church. She saw them at the church.
Isaac saw Jeena at the church. He saw her at the church.
John and Mark preached everywhere. They preached everywhere.
John asked Tammy a question. He asked me a question.
Practice 4H: Pronoun Agreement Errors. Fix the pronoun agreement errors in the sentences below by
typing in the correct word under the incorrect word.
1. John went to the store. She forgot to purchase milk.
2. The teacher asked me a question. I answered them.
3. Michael scratched the dog’s tail. They were itching.
4. The college graduates were all excited. He couldn’t sleep at night.
Possessive Case
Possessive case personal pronouns take the place of possessive nouns. Unlike possessive nouns, they never
have apostrophes.
Joan's paper is the best. Her paper is the best.
John's paper is the best. His paper is the best.
The best paper is Joan's. The best paper is hers.
The best paper is John's. The best paper is his.
