Capitalize words that refer to deity.

Capitalize pronouns that describe deity. Example: After Jesus’s death, they laid Him in an empty tomb.
Do not capitalize the word god when referring to pagan deities.
Religious Writings, Groups, Terms
the Bible (however, do not capitalize the adjective biblical), Scripture, New International Version
the Beatitudes, Baptist, Catholic, the Fall, the Atonement, Apostles' Creed
Gospel (when referring to one of the four books);

Personal Titles
Capitalize titles when used before a person's name; however, do not capitalize the title when following a
name or when used alone.

• Queen Elizabeth - the queen of English
• Dr. Heier - the community doctor
• Pastor Kelly - the pastor
Capitalize a title if used alone as a direct address (used as a name)
• Good morning, Pastor.
Capitalize family relationship words when they are used before a person's name and when used alone in place
of the name.
• Uncle Nathan and Aunt Michaela recently moved to another village.
• My uncle and aunt moved to another village.
• Will you teach me to cook, Mother?
• My mother taught me how to cook.
