priest. 64 sites in 3 major areas were described. The problem is that the descriptions of the topography
of the burial sites have changed in the 1900 plus years since the scroll were written.
Recently a team discovered in Cave 11 a clay vessel approximately 5’ high that contained a thick, almost
solidified oil. According to Exodus 30:23-26, the holy anointing oil was used in the Temple services to
anoint (set apart) priests and implements for holiness. It was to be made of five costly ingredients.
When the oil found in Cave 11 was analyzed, it was shown to be composed of the exact same five
ingredients. One of the five ingredients in this oil is the rare persimmon or balsam oil extracted from
the balsam tree. There were only two groves of balsam trees in Israel, one in Jericho and another in a
wadi near En Gedi on the west side of the Dead Sea. When it became apparent that the Romans were
going to destroy the Temple, priests burned the two groves of balsam trees to keep them out of the
hands of the Romans. Since then, it has been impossible to reconstitute the ancient oil of anointing.
Jewish scholars for hundreds of years have claimed that the inability to create the oil of anointing would
prevent Jews from ever resuming legitimate Temple worship. However, this discovery proves to be a
key event in setting the stage for the fulfillment of the prophecies in the last days. They have thinned
down the oil and now have plenty for Temple worship.
The Sanhedrin. The Sanhedrin is a group of 71 elders from all the tribes to share in leading the nation
of Israel. It was established by Moses in Numbers 11:16-17. For over 900 hundred years, the Sanhedrin
held the legislative and judicial powers. Ezra reinstituted the Great Sanhedrin to provide spiritual
leadership and guidance before the people began to rebuild the Temple in 516 BC.
On January 20, 2005, Israel formally setup the modern-day Sanhedrin. The court’s leader, Rabbi Yeshai
Baavad declared that the rabbinic body would meet monthly to issue religious legal rulings. This group
is integrally involved in rebuilding the Temple and training hundreds of priests from the tribe of Levi in
the precise rituals of the ancient Temple sacrifices.
Recovering the Blue Dye for the Garments of the High Priest. The Bible emphasizes the necessity of
using a certain rare blue dye to create the beautiful robes of the high priest (Ex. 28:31) Since the
nd
destruction of the 2 Temple, the ingredients of the dye has been lost. The dye was produced from a
rare mollusk found only in the Mediterranean Sea, a creature long thought to be extinct. However, in
the late 1990’s Israeli divers discovered the mollusk in the Red Sea. The Temple Institute in Israel has
recreated the robe of the high priest using this rare dye.

The Ashes of the Red Heifer. The 3 Temple cannot be built and
used for worship until the appropriate area on the Temp Mount is
ritually purified using waters of purification from the ashes of an
unblemished red heifer (Numbers 19:2). Jewish authorities are
raising a number of red heifers in Israel so they will have a qualified
candidate when they receive a divine sign that the time has finally
come to rebuild the Temple. An Israeli newspaper reports in May of 1997 that a pure-red heifer was
born in Israel that met the qualification describes in Numbers 19.
Arutz-7 News: Tuesday, March 18, 1997 The birth of a red heifer (cow) in a farm in the religious youth
village of Kfar Hasidim (near Haifa) has excited sectors in the religious community. A delegation of some
25 experts, including Rabbis Yisrael Ariel and Yoseph Elboim, visited the farm last week to examine the
six-month old cow, and concluded that it is in fact an acceptable red heifer, according to Torah
