Chapter 8: Questions about Jesus Christ
Connect …
Do you remember reading about the disciples being with Jesus 40 days after the resurrection? (Acts 1:6-
11) He was standing on the top of Mt. Olivet near Jerusalem and suddenly He started levitating toward
the sky. The disciples were speechless as he rose into the clouds. Two men in white robes, most likely
angels, addressed them. “Why are you staring into heaven? Jesus is now going into heaven, but
someday in the future He will return exactly as you have seen Him go into heaven.”
The method of Jesus’s departure demonstrated two major doctrines of our belief: Jesus is God for only
God can fly and Jesus is coming again from the clouds the same way He left into the clouds. Skeptics
reading this story deny its voracity because they do not believe Jesus is God. Today we will look at His
claims to be God.
Objectives …
1. The student will be able to define and explain the Law of Contradiction and how this law is applied to
Jesus’s statement that He was the only way to God.
2. The student should be able to answer the four false claims about who Jesus was.
3. The student should be able to give evidence both from non-Biblical sources, but also from the Bible
that Jesus lived and claimed to be deity.
The Lesson …

The person of Jesus is the most central aspect of the Christian faith. Without Jesus, there would be no

the only truth.
Because of this, the person of Jesus is one of the most disputed issues when it comes to matters of faith,
beliefs, and religion. The Bible describes very clearly who He is, what He has said and done, and most of
all His atoning death on the cross. Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to
the Father except through me. (John 14:6) He claimed to be the way of salvation to all men.
This is what makes true Christianity so narrow-minded in the eyes of the world. People who are not
Christians quite often make these statements:
