V. 14-15 The remnant will life up their voice and glorify the Lord in the dawning light.
V. 16 Isaiah is saddened to see this vision of the destruction of so many.
V. 17-18 Isaiah warns that the pit and the snare are upon them, and that fleeing from the coming
destruction will not help.
V. 19-20 The earth is broken, split open and shaken exceedingly.
It will reel to and fro like a drunkard. Perhaps the greatest indication that this is talking about the end
times is the final part of V. 20. It (the earth) will fall and not rise again.
V. 21-22 The ‘kings’ of the earth refers to the devil and his demonic forces. They will be gathered
together in the pit.
V. 24 The Lord of hosts will reign is a reference to the 1000-year reign of Jesus
